Former selector Kiran More become emotional says I feel proud father after seeing Dhoni
New Delhi, 7 July | Former BCCI chief selector Kiran More has said that he always believed that Mahendra Singh Dhoni would do well in international cricket and earn a name. Dhoni lived up to Mora's expectations and not only did he become the world's great finisher but also got India named in two successful captains of the World Cup.
Dhoni is celebrating his 39th birthday on Tuesday.
Speaking to IANS, Morey wished Dhoni a happy birthday and said, "He always had talent. He had something special. You become a star when you play for the Indian team and do well. That's what he did. He was given a stage to perform and he roasted it with both hands. "
The former wicketkeeper said, "He became the captain of India and won the T20 World Cup-2007. From there, his graph has only gone up. He also captained India in Tests and then won the ODI World Cup-2011."
Dhoni is the only captain to have won ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup, and Champions Trophy. Under his captaincy, India became the No. 1 team in Test and ODI rankings.
When Morey was asked what he liked about Dhoni, he said, "His way of playing cricket. He has been playing the same way since day one and he has a good attitude to win the match. He is a team man. And quite humble as a human being. He keeps things simple. "
When asked if he feels like a proud father after seeing Dhoni's achievements, More said, "Yes, sitting at home thinking what he has done for cricket feels good. It's fantastic. He Has been quite successful. When you are a selector you always look for good cricketers. It's your job. "
He said, "It is not just me who should take full credit, but the others were also. You pick the cricketer and when he does well and the team wins, you feel good, feel proud."
Morey said about Dhoni's retirement, "I think it should be left to Dhoni as well. We should respect what he wants."
